Who we are

Gafcon Isle of Wight is the Island’s local expression of the global Anglican movement known as Gafcon.  We are a group of  Anglicans from a number of Island churches who are committed to sharing a vision of a renewed Anglican Communion, (i.e. Anglicans both within and outside the Church of England), which is biblically faithful, diverse in culture and churchmanship and united in mission. It is summed up in a declaration signed at the Global Anglican Future Conference in June 2008 in Jerusalem. It is known as the Jerusalem Declaration.

The way in which we seek to help individual Anglicans and Churches to renew and reform Anglicanism on the Isle of Wight are summarised below.

  1. Provide opportunities for fellowship and to experience and proclaim the transforming love of Jesus Christ.

  2. To develop a renewed understanding of what it means to be an Anglican Christian/Church.

  3. To prepare for an Anglican future in which both the Christian Gospel is not compromised, and the Christ-centred mission is a top priority.

  4. To help Christians uphold and practice a Biblical faith.
